Cobb-Vantress partnered with Todd & Sargent — a construction and engineering company based in Ames, Iowa — to build its feed mill in Albany, Kentucky.
On January 31, 2014, Todd & Sargent began an eight-day continuous concrete pour, forming the slip (or tower) portion of the feed mill. Watch the entire process in this one-minute time-lapse video:
The pour required 214 trucks, each carrying 10 cubic yards of concrete. One cubic yard equals 3,250 pounds of concrete. In total, the feed mill slip includes 3,485 tons of concrete and 132 tons of steel.
Cobb began construction on the feed mill in November of 2013 to serve its expanding operations in both Kentucky and Tennessee.
