Nash Johnson & Sons Farms, Inc. Recognized as Top US Customer using Cobb500 Breeding Stock

As part of their annual awards program, Cobb’s Technical Services team evaluates data from over 2,000 flocks to determine which customers using Cobb500 breeding stock have achieved truly spectacular results. This year, Cobb recognizes Nash Johnson & Sons Farms, Inc. – a North Carolina-based poultry integrator – as the top performing US customer using Cobb500 breeding stock.

The awards measure performance based on several key metrics collected in the Sold Flock Breeder Survey: hatching egg production, hatchability, chicks per hen housed, and LOF (Life of Flock) mortality. This year’s winner is Nash Johnson & Sons Farms, Inc. They achieved an adjusted total eggs per hen housed of 177.44. 

Royal Johnson, breeder manager at Nash Johnson & Sons Farms, Inc., credits Cobb’s Technical Service team with providing the tools and expertise needed to improve operations – from keeping them informed on industry trends to offering relevant technical advice. 

“Our team puts in long hours of hard work. It’s very satisfying to win such a prestigious award as a result of those efforts,” said Royal.

Although Johnson Farms is a small, family-owned operation, their performance rivals that of national competitors. Since the awards program’s inception in 2004, Nash Johnson & Sons, Inc. has won two regional top performer awards.

The 2013 Cobb500 top performing regional customers are George’s, Inc. for the Midwest; Pilgrims Pride - Marshville for the Mid-Atlantic; Tyson Foods - Snead for the South, Tyson Foods – Nacogdoches for the Southwest, Tyson Foods – Pine Bluff for the Mid-South; and co-winners Fieldale Farms and Tyson Foods - Oglethorpe for the Southeast region.

“It takes a total team effort to contribute to the outstanding performances displayed by each of our winners, and it begins with the leadership and desire to be the best each and every day,” noted Ken Semon, director of technical services for Cobb. “Cobb will continue to strive to deliver the quality products our customers deserve that help contribute to their overall success.”
